Description
Chapmans Peak is known as one of the most beautiful lookout spots in Cape Town, famous for its views over Hout Bay valley and its backdrop of exquisite mountains protruding out of the bay. Well, that says it all and this hike takes you to the best vantage point on offer.
The route has a mixed terrain, it starts with some large rock like stairs, and leads into a single rock path. There are some steep sections towards the summit, but generally, the hike is not too strenuous giving you every opportunity to take in the surroundings. Hiking Chapmans peak is a unique experience. The route displays an abundance of flora, and once you reach the top you will be rewarded by 360-degree views showcasing the magnificent mountain range of the Cape Peninsula and its surrounding coastline. The hike takes about 2 hours, up and down. Next, we’ll drive along the country’s most beautiful coastline to Cape Point.
Once we reach Cape Point, we will park the car and set off on a 2-hour circular hike around Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve. Cape Point hikes are not too strenuous, although there are some steeper sections and some stairs at the start. The Cape Point hike takes us along a more level terrain along the rugged coastline, and to the peaks that stand as vantage points. You can expect to see plenty of wildlife; such as Zebra, Bontebok, Baboons, and Ostrich as we hike through the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve. Cape point is known for its flora, wildlife, untouched white sandy beaches, and many say it is single handily the country’s most scenic location. The views throughout are incredible and the lookout spots and photo locations are endless. It’s common to spot whales in the ocean from June to December.
The circular hike brings us back to where we began and we will then make our way back to Cape Town. A visit to boulders beach can be added on request.
